Discover Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Dublin 快乐小羊

If you’re craving bubbling broths, thinly sliced meats, and that cozy, communal dining vibe, Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Dublin 快乐小羊 at 4068 Grafton St, Dublin, CA 94568, United States, delivers an experience that feels both authentic and welcoming. I’ve visited several hot pot spots across California, from San Jose to San Francisco, and this Dublin location stands out for its balance of quality, service, and atmosphere.

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the clean, modern dining room. Tables are fitted with individual induction burners, making it easy to control your own pot. That detail matters more than people think. According to food safety guidance from the USDA, maintaining proper cooking temperatures is essential when preparing raw meats, and having personal temperature control ensures everything-from lamb slices to seafood-is cooked thoroughly and safely.

The menu is where things get exciting. You start by choosing a broth base: classic lamb bone broth, spicy Sichuan, tomato, mushroom, or a split pot if you can’t decide. I usually go for the half spicy, half original. The spicy broth has that numbing Sichuan peppercorn kick, layered with chili oil and aromatics. It’s bold but not overwhelming. The original lamb broth, on the other hand, is rich and slightly milky, simmered for hours to extract collagen and depth of flavor. Research published in food science journals often highlights how slow-simmered bone broths develop complex umami profiles through protein breakdown, and you can genuinely taste that here.

Then come the proteins. Thinly sliced lamb is the signature, and for good reason. It cooks in seconds, turning tender without losing texture. I’ve also tried the premium beef, shrimp, fish fillets, and handmade meatballs. The freshness is noticeable. In fact, during one visit, I asked a server about sourcing, and they explained that meats are delivered frequently and sliced daily to maintain quality. That aligns with best practices in the restaurant industry, where minimizing storage time helps preserve both flavor and food safety.

Vegetable platters are equally impressive. Napa cabbage, spinach, lotus root, tofu skin, enoki mushrooms, and glass noodles give you plenty of variety. Nutrition experts from organizations like the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics often recommend balancing protein-heavy meals with fiber-rich vegetables, and hot pot makes that easy. You control what goes into your pot, which means you can build a meal that feels indulgent but not overly heavy.

One of my favorite parts is the sauce station. You mix your own dipping sauce using sesame paste, soy sauce, garlic, scallions, chili oil, and more. There’s a bit of art to it. On my first visit, I copied a popular combo I saw in online reviews: sesame paste, a splash of black vinegar, fresh garlic, and cilantro. It added creamy nuttiness and brightness to every bite. Over time, I started adjusting ratios depending on the broth-more vinegar with spicy broth, more sesame with the original.

Service here deserves mention. Staff members are attentive without hovering. When my group once overestimated how much we could eat, the server gently suggested reducing our order to avoid waste. That level of honesty builds trust. It shows they care about the dining experience, not just the bill total.

Reviews from local diners frequently highlight consistency, and that’s been my experience too. Every visit has delivered the same flavorful broths, fresh ingredients, and efficient service. Of course, like any busy restaurant, wait times can stretch during peak dinner hours, especially on weekends. If you’re planning a group outing, it’s smart to arrive early or check ahead.

Pricing is reasonable for the Bay Area, especially considering the ingredient quality and portion sizes. Compared to other hot pot locations in nearby cities, the value feels fair. You’re not just paying for food; you’re paying for the interactive experience of cooking at the table, sharing plates, and slowing down the meal.

For anyone exploring dining options in Dublin, California, this spot offers more than just dinner. It’s a hands-on culinary experience rooted in Mongolian-style hot pot traditions, adapted for modern tastes. Between the customizable menu, quality ingredients, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s easy to see why it has become a favorite among locals looking for comfort food with a flavorful twist.

  • Haven't been here since before the pandemic and it was just as tasty as I remember! Very clean and well lit. Staff was friendly and quick. All the food was very fresh and served beautifully. We particularly enjoyed the sesame bun, the mushroom platter and the pork dumplings. We brought five kids with us of varying levels of pickiness and even the most picky enjoyed the noodles! I think the experience of cooking the noodles in rich, bubbly broth added to their willingness to try it. Highly recommend!

  • I have been many different Happy Lamb Hot Pot restaurants in the bay area. This one has the best service! Not like some other places that once you order for the first round the they seem to ignore you or act like did not see you even they were not busy. The waiters here actually serve the food pretty fast, and they do actually come and ask how was the food and anything else to order. The lamb meats, lamb shank are good, the sides and sauces from the counters are pretty fresh and neat. We ordered premium, half and half pot with spicy and original. Seems like this location had a more tastier soup based instead of super salty soup based. But… the most important thing is… same for all other locations, the lamb shank is now only limited to 1 order per 2 person. We love the lamb shank, it is a must order every time we come here. Now we have to share 1 lamb shank… sad… Anyways! I love this location more, I will for sure come back again!

  • Came here with my family and the fried chicken and food are excellent. They do get busy so they like to squish groups in which is minus a star. I understand they want to accommodate every customer but can be claustrophobic.

  • We came here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and it's wasn't crowded. It is all you can eat hot pot and you can pick any item from their all-you-can-eat lunch menu. The menu has variety of soup base, different kinds of meat, seafood, vegetables, and various tofu, fish ball, etc. We ordered the split soup base with half of the original and half of the spicy. We also ordered quite a variety of items including beef, pork, lamb, shrimp, fish, various vegetables, tofu, fried tofu, mushroom, fish cake, etc. The soup was quite flavorful and we didn't need any other condiments. All the ingredients were fresh and of good quality. Since it wasn't crowded, we're able to take our time and enjoyed the lunch. The service was prompt and friendly. Overall it was a very good meal and excellent value. We all enjoyed the lunch very much.

  • The lunch was amazing with the original and tomato based broths and assorted veggies. Ordered a few extra dishes like the shrimp paste, silken tofu and broccoli. Decor was modern and clean and the service was excellent and friendly. No hosted sauce bar. Each cost $0.75 per dish.

  • Had an amazing experience at Happy Lamb Hot Pot in Dublin! The restaurant offers an impressive variety of options for hot pot lovers. The selection of broths is fantastic, ranging from spicy to mild, so there's something for every taste. The meat options were fresh and abundant, with a great mix of beef, lamb, and pork, as well as tasty meatballs that cooked perfectly in the broth. They also have an excellent selection of seafood, including prawns and fish, and a wide array of veggies to load up your hot pot with. The cold dishes were also a nice touch—perfect for balancing out the hot pot experience. And let’s not forget about the desserts, which were the perfect sweet finish to the meal! The service was top-notch. Our server was super friendly, attentive, and helpful, guiding us through the menu and making sure we had everything we needed. They really made us feel welcome. The only thing I wish they had was a dedicated veggie broth option for vegetarians—currently, they only offer broths with meat bases, so I had to make do with what I could. But aside from that, everything was fantastic!
